Saturday, June 16, 2007:  Today is Graduation Day.  Graduation is held in the GSU Performing Arts Center at 8:15 am.  The 2007 Session of Georgia Boys State has come to another successful conclusion.  Thanks to everyone for making this another great year!

 

Friday, June 15, 2007:  Today the entire government of Georgia Boys State is functional.  Today's speaker was Tommy Clack, retired Vietnam War Veteran.  Athletics were held today.

 

Thursday, June 14, 2007:  Today is State Government Day.  Elections were held for all State Government positions, and the winners were announced and inaugurated.  Athletics were held today, and the Devotional was led by Madison County.  Congratulations to Logan Krusac and Johnny Blankenship for being elected Governor and Lt. Governor of Georgia Boys State 2007!  We will have all other election results posted on Friday, June 15.

 

Wednesday, June 13, 2007:  Today is State Primary Day.  Candidates for State office are qualified, then voted by each party to become the party's nominees.  Today's speaker was James Donald, Commissioner of the Department of Corrections, State of Georgia.  The GBS Citizens participated in the Teen Forum Show, a syndicated radio show of teenage political debate.  Devotional was led by Jefferson County.

 

Tuesday, June 12, 2007:  Today is County Government Day.  Each county has elected its Superior Court Judge, Superior Court Clerk, District Attorney, Probate Judge, Sheriff, Commissioners, State Senators and State Representatives.  The GBS Citizens observed a fleet of Georgia State Patrol Helicopters, met the pilots and asked questions.  Athletics were held today.  Today's speaker was Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel.  Devotional was led by Adams County.

 

Monday, June 11, 2007:  Today is City Government Day.  Each city has elected its City Mayor, Recorder and City Council, and all have been installed.  This morning's speaker was William Hatcher, Mayor of the City of Statesboro.  Devotional was led by Washington County.

 

Sunday, June 10, 2007:  The Boys State Citizens have arrived, GBS 2007 is now underway.  First city meeting is at 3:00, followed by the first General Session, then dinner.  Tonight's Devotional is led by the GBS Staff.  Tonight's speakers were Georgia Department Commander Charles French, Dean of Counselors Bob Beauchamp, Madison County Coordinator Phil Youngblood, and a guest appearance by President Abraham Lincoln.
